Growing Up Chicks: Episode One

This is a fictional story about 12 young chicks growing up in the heart of Florida. The characters, or chicks, are real, however, and this is the first episode about their lives on a farm in Florida.

Prologue

It was an early morning in May. The henhouse was filled with excitement as twelve new eggs hatched. Their mothers were exploding with pleasure as the newborn chicks hopped out of their egg shells and started to peep. One of them fell over and went to sleep right at once.
"I think I'll call her Sleeping Beauty, because it seems she likes to sleep," her mother said, picking her up and cuddling her under her wing. One of the chicks, the smallest of them all, starting chirping out a beautiful song.
"I think I'll call her Sweet Cheep, because it seems her voice is beautiful," her mother said, and listened to her daughter's sweet song. One of the chicks started to run around like crazy, chirping wildly as she went.
"I think I'll call her Energy Ball, because it seems she likes to run," her mother said, watching her chick intently. One of the chicks was pecking at a small, dark spot in the nest.
"I think I'll call her Speckie, because she seems to like specks," her mother said, and picked up her chick and put her on her back, and the chick pecked her mother's mites out. One of the chicks was focused on pecking a brownie crumb.
"I think I'll call her Brownie, because she seems to like them," her mother said, and brought her over to another part of the nest where there were more brownie crumbs. One of the chicks was rather large, and she was acting all grown up.
"I think I'll call her Big Girl, because she's big, and she seems to think she's a chicken already," her mother said, watching her chick walk around with her chest puffed out. One of the chicks, who was sitting next to her mother, looked exactly like her.
"I think I'll call her Henrietta, because she looks like me, and my name is Henrietta," her mother said, and she scooped up her daughter and held her up close to her face. One of the chicks was quite small, and she was running around, flapping her wings wildly.
"I think I'll call her Little Girl, because she's small, and her nickname will be Wild Thing, because she's wild," her mother said, and watched her chick happily. One of the chicks was cuddling up close to her mother.
"I think I'll call her Mellow Yellow, because she's yellow and she's mellow," her mother said, and snuggled with her chick. One of the chicks was cheeping quietly to her mother.
"I think I'll call her Little Peep, because she's quiet," her mother said, and squawked quietly with her daughter. One of the chicks had an unusually long tail.
"I think I'll call her Blackie Longtail, because she has a very long tail," her mother said, and played with her daughter's tail. One of the chicks was acting lively and energetic.
"I think that I'll call her Spunky, because that's exactly what she is," her mother said, and sat with her chick happily.
"Now all of the new chicks are named!" a brown rooster cried happily. "Now we can go on with the ceremonies." If you're wondering what "the ceremonies" are, it's just when all of the chickens and roosters in the henhouse congratulate the chick's mothers and fathers about the birth of their new chicks.

After the ceremonies, the chicks and their families went to their part of the nest and let the chicks interact with each other. Then their parents shook wings, gathered up their chicks, turned off the light, and went to sleep.

So what will happen next with the chicks and their family? What will happen in the morning?
